The Spirit of Volunteering
A day to reflect, refresh and recharge for volunteers, managers and leaders of voluntary organisations.

In honour of World Values Day  |  Booking is essential

World Values Day is a global opportunity for individuals, organisations, and communities to reflect on and celebrate the important role inner values play in building a peaceful, sustainable, and fulfilling world. This year’s theme, Values and Volunteering, invites us to consider the values that underlie the huge contribution that volunteers make to the world.

This special event is open to all volunteers, managers and leaders of voluntary organisations. Together we will go through a journey of talks, journalling, inner reflection, sharing and meditation designed to uplift and inspire us.

It will be an opportunity to:
  • Explore ways of sustaining and empowering ourselves to keep on giving, despite the challenges
  • Meet like-minded people who are making a valuable contribution to the world
  • Explore the underlying values that inspire us to freely give support to others
  • Reflect and share on the important part volunteering plays in our lives.

Speakers include:

Ed Mayo, an influential figure in British social policy, who has held many leadership positions across the social economy and voluntary sector in the UK, including CEO of Pilotlight, Secretary General of Cooperatives UK and Director of the New Economics Foundation.

Emma Slade, a former successful international fund manager, who, after a life-changing experience, found her calling as a Buddhist nun and founder and CEO of the UK registered charity Opening Your Heart to Bhutan, which supports special needs children in Bhutan.

Matilda Velevitch, a writer, artist and founder of Useful Productions, a Community Interest Company, and a catering project training women and refugees facing barriers. She is passionate about volunteering and how it has a lasting positive impact on everyone involved.

Nora Vyas, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Psychology, Kingston University London.

A vegetarian lunch will be provided and there will be information tables where leaflets can be displayed.

There is no charge for attending, though contributions towards costs are welcome.
