Guest Speaker: Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, Ph.D. is a Corresponding Member of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, retiring as Associate Professor of Medicine. He is Director of Research for the Kundalini Research Institute, Research Associate at the Benson Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, and Research Affiliate of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. He has practiced Kundalini Yoga since 1971 and is a certified instructor, and has been engaged in biomedical research on the efficacy of yoga for improving mental health since 2001. He has conducted clinical research trials evaluating yoga interventions for insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic stress, and anxiety disorders, and also for adolescents in public schools and workers in occupational settings. He works with the International Association of Yoga Therapists to promote research on yoga and yoga therapy as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Yoga Therapy and as chair of the scientific program committee for its annual conference. He is chief editor of the medical textbook The Principles and Practice of Yoga in Health Care, co-editor of the textbook The Principles and Practice of Yoga for Children and Adolescents, and medical editor of the Harvard Medical School Special Report An Introduction to Yoga.
 
Facilitation of Q&A: Dr Sarah Eagger is Chair of the Janki Foundation. She worked for 30 years in the NHS as a consultant psychiatrist and honorary senior clinical lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Imperial College, London, and also worked in private practice for 15 years. She is on the executive committees of both the Religion, Spirituality and Psychiatry section of the World Psychiatric Association and the Special Interest Group on Spirituality at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK). She is also past chair of the National Spirituality and Mental Health Forum and the British Holistic Medical Association. As a practitioner of meditation for over 40 years and a certified Mindful Self Compassion teacher, she is an advocate of a values-based approach to healthcare - one that embraces peace, love, positivity and compassion for the benefit of oneself and others.
